Modern European History emphasizes several key changes in the political geography of Europe. Knowing the maps of Europe at the start of the Renaissance, after the 30 Years War in 1648, at the end of Napoleon's rule, and after WWII is essential. Students should also understand that today's Europe is united into the European Union.
