AP European history Unit Review Essay Assignment
This assignment is designed to give a framework for carefully reviewing and summarizing the events of a particular time period. The following guidelines should be carefully followed for full credit and understanding.

Introduction
1. Two sentences of background giving specific reasons to explain the problems or causes of the previous time period which led to the developments of the time you are writing about.
2. One sentence describing the single most important idea or development of the time about which you are writing.
3. A clear and specific thesis which gives the supporting ideas or developments (at least three ideas) to the single idea which dominates the time period. Be sure to show how the first idea led to or related to the second and how the second relates to the third and so on if you have more than three.
Body Paragraphs
1. First sentence is a topic sentence that CLEARLY explains the way in which the supporting idea you are writing about influenced the main idea of the time period.
2. The middle sentences provide at least 10 facts from the time period that support your topic in this paragraph. Be sure to alternate between facts and explanations in your paragraph. (Give facts in one sentence and then explain how those facts support the topic in the next sentence.)
3. Conclude your paragraph with a one sentence explanation of how successfully your topic succeeded in supporting the central idea of the time period. This may also be a transition into the next paragraph which could help solve whatever was left to do after the first development had been accomplished.
