Geography, Maps and World History

Maps are a great way to learn World history because they are visual and they contain a lot of information in a small space. Maps help us see how places change politically over time. They can show how and why wars develop. The maps below as well as the links to other pages will help you remember what you have learned about history.

Modern World History emphasizes several key changes in the political geography of Europe. Knowing the maps of Europe at the start of the Renaissance, after the 30 Years War in 1648, at the end of Napoleon's rule, after WWI and after WWII is essential. Students should also understand that today's Europe is united into the World Union.
